He does a lot of product reviews and tutorials on this channel, I have learned a lot from him over the past 2 years. DeeJay has a ton more experience than I do shooting shorts and other movies, checkout DeeJay's IMDB page. DeeJay has a much different shooting style than I do, he tends to use mostly primes for his movies, while I use mostly zooms for my promo and corporate videos. So I thought it would be fun to do a video together. I learned a lot watching him work and was amazed by all the gear he owns. Since both of our YouTube subscribers seem to like lens reviews, in this video we are comparing the Canon 24mm 1.4 Mark II vs Sigma 24mm 1.8 Marco lenses. Sharpness On a crop sensor as you can see here the Canon on the left at 1.8 is a bit sharper in the center of the frame. And then as we move up to the upper left hand corner of the frame you can see the the Sigma on the right gets pretty smeary compared to the Canon on the left. Running the exact same test on the 5D full frame starting in the upper corner you can see again that the Canon is a bit sharper, as we move to the center you can see that the Canon is noticeably sharper than the Sigma. Lets head back to the crop sensor and an f-stop of 2.8 to see if the Sigma can improve at a slightly higher f-stop number. Instructions: Aperture Mode Settings. You can do this in Manual mode as well. #1 First set the ISO (for a Sunny day, pick lowest ISO, for cloudy start with ISO400) #2 Select aperture or f/stop # (your desired depth of field) Group shot or solo portrait? #3 Focus to see if shutter speed is fast enough - If Shutter speed is fast enough, take the picture - If shutter speed is not fast enough then increase the ISO to get to desired shutter speed OR open up your aperture to get to fast enough shutter speed. #4 If you're ISO is already too high and shutter speed is just shy of "minimum shutter speed" then see if you can open up the aperture Note: If your ISO is 100 or 200 and you're not getting fast enough shutter speed then you either open up your aperture OR increase the ISO to get faster shutter speed.

www.FroKnowsPhoto.com There are a few different sensor sizes out there today. You have Full Frame and Cropped Sensors and now Four Thirds which I did not speak about in this video. On the Nikon end you have FX and DX. FX is a full frame sensor based on a 35mm size and DX is a cropped sensor based on a 24mm or APS size. There are advantages and perceived disadvantages to both. With Full Frame you get much better Hi-ISO capability but it is much more expensive. DX is a small sensor but makes your longer lenses act like they have more power. You multiply any lens you put on the camera by 1.5X to determine its 35mm equivalent. The downside is you need to purchase special ultra wide lenses to capture really wide angle images on DX. Another disadvantage to DX is you will not want to use those lenses on a Full Frame camera. So it becomes a dilemma on weather not to purchase a lot of DX lenses or not. On the Canon side you have three sensor sizes. Full Frame, 1.3x magnification in their sports cameras and APS-C which is 1.6x magnification. On the canon side. Any lens that you place on the APS-C sensor you will multiply by 1.6x to get the 35mm equivalent. As in the Nikon the larger the sensor the better the Hi-ISO capability the camera will be.
