Nikon Coolpix P7100 Review The Nikon Coolpix P7100 (9.95) is one of those cameras that will send the average consumer running for the hills because this badass has more controls, dials, bells and whistles than R2-D2. On the other hand, the Nikon Coolpix P7100 will turn an advanced photographer into a bottle rocket of excitement, thanks to its arsenal of external and internal features. The Nikon Coolpix P7100 goes head to head with the Canon PowerShot G12, though I do believe Nikon has surpassed Canon this time around. At the beginning of each episode, Wil Willis, call sign Whiskey Whiskey, is given information on a specific special operations mission by US Marine Corps Master Sergeant Tom Minder or US Army Sergeant Matt Anderson, which he must complete solo. www.dslrfilmnoob.com I've been waiting to post this for more then a week. The first Bluetooth transmitter I received was defective and I had to send it back. The seller was kind enough to cover return shipping, but the back and forth took awhile. I finally received the working Bluetooth transmitter a few days ago and had a chance to run the setup through its paces. I'm very happy to say that everything works great! I was able to get clean audio transmitted over 50 feet line of site and about 20 feet through walls. Two tests of battery life showed 5 hours the first test and 3 hours 45 min second test. Not the 8 hours promised by the manual but still quit good for the price. The receiver actually ran out of power before the transmitter on the second test. I would have thought it would be the other way around. Both the transmitter and receiver aren't much bigger then a compact flash card so they wont add much weight to your rig and since the Bluetooth transmitter sends stereo audio you can get 2 channels of audio back to your camera. I just put this together to demonstrate how we put this project together and did it on just DSLR cameras and lenses with no budget! We thought the results were pretty good too, especially considering that my colleagues and I had never made one before. The job was also made twice as difficult because we filmed it in the freezing cold in January in the UK with some of the scenes actually taking place underwater! The Nexus 7 tablet comes in at 0 for the 8 GB model and 0 for the 16 GB model. Add to that the .99 DSLR Controller app, and a USB OTG cable and you can use the 1280×800 IPS display on the Nexus 7 to monitor and control your Canon camera through the usb port. The nice thing about using this method is that the screen on the camera stays on while using the monitor. It also has the added bonus of giving you full control of camera functions from the touch screen interface which could be handy for jib operators. After testing out the APP on the Canon t2i with magic lantern, Canon 7d, and 5d mark III, I can say that it works pretty well with the Nexus 7 tablet. There were some strange issues with the Canon 7d. I actually had to reboot the tablet before it would work with the 7d, but I think that might have been caused by changing between cameras. The DSLR Controller is still in beta, so don't expect it to work perfectly, but overall it was a good experience. I think if you're willing to learn the program and sort out the controls it can make a very handy monitor slash controller for your camera. But it's not quit as simple as plugging in a monitor cable and turning it on. Keep that in mind if you plan to use this on a project with time constraints.
